Installation of multi-layer vacuum lamination equipment INSTALLATION OF MULTI-LAYER VACUUM LAMINATION EQUIPMENT
Modern pcb designs have increasingly tight and fine features. They require multi-layer bonding presses that minimize track movements and eliminate in-built stresses in the bonded pcbs. Our new Burkle computer controlled press has both hot oil heated platens and lamination under full vacuum. Heating and cooling by hot oil fluid gives uniform heat-flow, and eliminates hot spots typical with traditional electrically heated ovens which lock-in stresses and cause warped pcbs. Vacuum lamination eliminates the possibility of air entrapment, a common cause of failure with atmospheric ovens.

New conveyorised process wquipment for pcb manufacture NEW CONVEYORISED PROCESS EQUIPMENT FOR PCB MANUFACTURE
As customers call for finer tracks and gaps, we have to anticipate with enhancements to our processes. This year we have successfully installed three new conveyorised process lines. These are for copper etching, solder resist development and copper chemical cleaning. As a consequence, both productivity and production yields have improved.

Larger factory for electronic assembly LARGER FACTORY FOR ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLY
Our new home for Newbury Electronics Contracts Division is over twice the size of our old premises and has a total area of 3,500 square feet. It is just 2 minutes from our PCB plant and the new address is 8 River Park Estate, Ampere Road, Newbury. It has been specially fitted out for electronic assembly with complete anti-static flooring. Some of the extra area has already been taken up with new machinery, but we still have room for expansion.

New forced air convection reflow oven NEW FORCED AIR CONVECTION REFLOW OVEN
With increasing production throughput, we have recently upgraded our SMD reflow oven. Our new machine is a forced air convection reflow oven with 4 computer controlled zones on both top and bottom making 8 zones in total. The 4 zones have a length of over 1.5M. All the zones are under closed loop computer control. This technology will easily cope with even the most difficult components. Temperature profiles are constantly monitored and repeatable.

New automatic solder paste screen printer NEW AUTOMATIC SOLDER PASTE SCREEN PRINTER
An automatic solder paste screen printer with vision alignment control has just been installed. The new machine enables very accurate printing of solder paste on even the finest pitch devices. Tight computer control of all aspects of the solder paste screen-printing process is essential for reliable SMD assembly and this machine achieves it all, perfectly printing the finest micro-BGA’s time after time. First time pass rates for finished product are significantly improved together with overall product reliability.

New BGA placement and re-work equipment NEW BGA PLACEMENT AND RE-WORK EQUIPMENT
If you have 100’s of BGA’s to place, then our Tenryu FV7100 is a fine machine to use. But how do you place a small batch or replace a BGA? Our new Zevac DRS 20 is a highly accurate small batch SMD placement machine which allows even the finest pitch flat-packs and BGA’s to be placed with absolute accuracy and removed without damage to the pcb. It is a miniaturized placement machine combined with a component size batch convection oven. Closed loop temperature measurement, joy-stick control of the component pick-up and placement, and camera vision for alignment all ensure consistent results.

Enhanced Testing CapabilityEnhanced Testing Capability
Our testing capability has been enhanced with the installation of a Microcraft EMMA 6146 moving probe tester. The machine can test large format panels up to 600mm x4 50mm. As well as all types of rigid PCBs it can test even the thinnest inner layer prior to lamination. This significantly improves manufacturing yields when constructing high layer count pcbs. It is exceptionally fast, testing at a probe rate of almost 2000 per minute allowing reasonable test times on even the most complex multi-layer pcbs.

New PCB Prototyping Service
We are pleased to announce the launch of our new low cost PCB prototyping service www.pcbtrain.com. There are no tooling costs, very low costs, and fixed delivery times for standard specification single-sided, PTH, 4 & 6 layer PCBs. View our pcbtrain web-site for more information.
