Newbury Innovation’s Jon Hawkins is key note speaker at Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Excellence in Engineering Breakfast on July 19th

Jon Hawkins, Technical Director at Newbury Innovation, will be the key note speaker at the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce’s forthcoming Excellence in Engineering breakfast. The event, which is being held on July 19th at the UTC, Didcot, will be examining the challenge facing companies in recruiting engineers and Jon will be sharing his company’s experience of working with Bath University.

Jon explained a little more; “Finding competent and capable engineers is beginning to prove difficult due to many factors including the current education system. This lack of skills will have a negative impact on the UK’s ability to deliver state of the art technology - an essential requirement for economically advanced nations.”

After the presentation guests can join a tour of UTC Oxfordshire campus facilities, including the first school cryogenics laboratory, a soon to be kitted out composite lab and an engineering bay housing a Mini car on which students are able to work and gain real practical experience.
